The Andorra coat of arms was officially adopted in 1969, but has existed for hundreds of years prior to this. The shield is divided into four sections, representing Foix, Catalonia, Bearn, and La Seu d'Urgell.

It contains the motto Virtus Unita Fortior, which means United virtue is stronger. The Andorra coat of arms also appears on the nation’s flag.
