The Argentina coat of arms was officially adopted in 1944, but has its origins much earlier in 1813. It features an oval shape that is flanked by laurel branches, which represent stand for glory. The oval depicts two shaking hands, which stands for unity. They are holding a pike, which is symbolic of defense. On top of the pike, a Phrygian cap rests, which stands for liberty. A rising sun, a traditional symbol of the nation, is located on the top of the Argentina coat of arms.
The top part of the oval is blue, symbolizing the sky. The bottom part of the oval is white, which represents the Río de la Plata, which is an estuary. The blue and white colors in the oval of the Argentina coat of arms are the nation’s national colors.
