The Barbados coat of arms features a shield that is supported by a dolphin (representing fishing) and a pelican (for Pelican island). It was adopted in 1966. The nation’s motto is located on a white ribbon below the arms which says “Pride and Industry”.
A helmet is located on top of the shield. On top of this helmet, a hand is holding two sugarcanes in the form of St. Andrew’s Cross. The shield is golden. Two flowers are located on the Barbados coat of arms. They are the nation flower known as the Pride of Barbados. A fig tree is located in the center.
