The Barbados Flag
The Barbados flag is 2:3 in terms of its proportion. It is a bicolor flag that consists of three vertical bars. It was adopted on November 30, 1966. There are two blue bands on the outside, and one yellow band in the middle. In the center, a black trident is located.
The Barbados flag was designed by Grantley W. Prescod. The blue represents the ocean and the sky. The yellow color represents the sand of the nation. The trident is a symbol of Neptune, and is meant to represent the breaking away from the United Kingdom.
It also serves as the civil ensign and is sometimes referred to as The Broken Trident. The Barbados flag was chosen from 1,029 entries. The country is situated slightly east of the Caribbean Sea.
The country’s capital city is Bridgetown, which also happens to be the largest city. The Barbados flag is part of a nation whose national motto is officially “Pride and Industry ". The national anthem or song is titled “In Plenty and In Time of Need”.
