The Bermudan coat of arms is a shield that is being held by a red lion. The shield shows a shipwreck. The ship featured is the Sea Venture, which was wrecked on the nation’s reefs in 1609. The lion represents England, a country with which Bermuda has had ties with. A banner at the bottom of the Bermudan coat of arms contains the Latin motto “Quo Fata Ferunt”, which means” Whither the Fates Carry Us”.
