The Burkina Faso coat of arms was adopted in 1997. It features a green and red shield in the middle, with a yellow star in the center of the shield, much like the national flag.

Two spears are located behind the shield. It is supported by two horses. A banner at the top spells out the nation’s name. A banner at the bottom of the Burkina Faso coat of arms has the motto “Unity, Progress, Justice” in French.
