The Estonia coat of arms was officially adopted on June 19, 1925. After the fall of the Soviet Union, it was readopted on August 7, 1990. During Soviet rule, people who used the design could have been punished by being put in jail.
The Estonia Coat of Arms has a golden shield surrounded by oak branches. Three blue lions are located in the center of the shield. The design was inspired by the emblem of Denmark, a nation which ruled part of Estonia during the 1200’s.
