The Falkland Islands coat of arms features a shield that depicts a ship set against white and blue alternating wavy lines. The name of the ship is the Desire, which was John Davis’ ship. He discovered the islands in 1592. Sheep-farming, one of the areas primary activities, is represented by a ram. The Falkland Islands was adopted on September 29, 1948.
