The Haiti coat of arms reached its current form in 1996, but was created in 1907. It features a palm tree surrounded by two canons. A drum and bugles are located in front of the tree. National flags flank each side. A symbol of freedom, the Phrygian cap, is located on top of the tree on the Haiti coat of arms.
A banner at the bottom has words in French that mean “Union Makes Strength”. The Haiti coat of arms is symbolic of the country’s battle for freedom.
