The Kiribati coat of arms features a rising sun over which a yellow frigatebird soars. It is set against a red background. The bottom portion has three white and three blue wavy lines for the Pacific Ocean. These represent Phoenix, Gilbert, and Line Islands. The Kiribati coat of arms was suggested in 1937 and adopted in 1979. A yellow ribbon at the bottom has words that mean “Health, Peace, and Prosperity”.
