The Liberian coat of arms shows a ship from the 1800’s sailing. It is meant to represent a ship bringing freed slaves from the United States to Liberia. A shovel and a wheel barrow are also depicted, symbolizing the fact that hard work will pay off. A rising sun and palm tree are also drawn. A scroll carried by a white dove represents the breath of peace.
In the Liberian coat of arms, two banners are located above and below the coat of arms. The top one contains the national motto, which is “The love of liberty brought us here”. The bottom one says “Republic of Liberia”.
