The Montana flag has a dark blue background. The state’s seal is featured in the center of the banner, above which is printed the word “Montana”. The seal shows the Great Falls of the Missouri River, in which a pick, shovel, and plow are resting. It also contains a banner with the state’s motto.
The Montana flag was adopted in 1905. However, it was used before during troops from the state during the Spanish-American war. Some slight changes were made to the banner in 1981 and 1985.
