The Morocco coat of arms was adopted on August 14th, 1956. It was designed by Gauthier and Hainaut. It features two lions holding a shield. The shield depicts a green pentagram on a red background. It also features the Atlas mountains and a rising sun. A banner at the bottom of the Moroccan coat of arms has the a verse from the Quran in Arabic letters that says “If you assist God, he will assist you”.
