The Nepal coat of arms depicts hands shaking, which represent gender equality. Above this, Mount Everest and hills are depicted. The flag of the country is located at the very top. It is surrounded by rhododendron flowers.
The Nepal coat of arms was adopted officially on December 30th, 2006. The bottom contains a red ribbon with the national motto written in Sanskrit. It means “The mother and the motherland are greater than heaven”.
