The Nevada flag has a blue background. A white star is located in the upper left corner. Above the star an orange banner reads “Battle Born”, which shows the state entered the Union during the Civil War. Below the star is the word “Nevada” as well as two sprigs of sagebrush.
The Nevada flag was picked from a 1926 contest and it was designed by Louis Shellback. It was officially adopted in 1929, and some slight changes were made in 1991.
