The Ontario flag was adopted in May of 1965. It is set on an all red background. The Union Jack is located in the upper left corner. The province’s coat of arms is located on the right side.
The Canadian Red Ensign was used before. Then it was replaced by the current Canadian flag. However, the citizens of the province were not fond of this. Because of this, Premier John Robarts, proposed the idea of creating a new flag. The end result was the current Ontario flag.
