The Sierra Leone coat of arms was created in 1960. A shield in the middle is supported by two yellow lions. A yellow line is located in the middle of a shield in front of a green zig zagged area. At the bottom of the shield, wavy blue and white lines are used to depict the sea. Three torches are located above the lion on the Sierra Leone coat of arms. The national motto is located on a ribbon at the bottom of the entire design.
The color green stands for natural resources and agriculture. The color white represents justice and unity. The color blue on the Sierra Leone coat of arms symbolizes the Harbour of Freetown.
