The Singapore coat of arms features a lion and a tiger supporting a shield in the middle. It is a red shield with a white crescent and five white stars. The moon represent the youth of the nation. The five stars represent the principles of justice, peace, democracy, progress, and equality. The color red symbolizes brotherhood, whereas the color white stands for virtue and purity. A banner below the Singapore coat of arms reads “Majulah Singapura” or “Onward Singapore”. It was adopted on December 3, 1959.
