The Taiwan emblem is known as the “Blue Sky with a White Sun”. It was designed in 1895 by a Republican revolutionary leader, Lu Hao-tung. The sun represents progress and spirit. The twelve rays that extend outward from it represent the twelve months of the year, and also the twelve Chinese hours. The Taiwan emblem is also used on the national flag.
