The Thailand emblem or Thailand coat of arms depicts a mythical creates from Buddhism and Hinduism, which is the Garuda. It is a symbol of authority and the royal family. This version is often called the Krut Pha. It is also featured on the insignia of Ulan Bator and Indonesia.
From 1873-1910, Siam had a coat of arms in the style of western heraldry. However, it was felt that this design was too symbolic of the western world, and a change was needed. Two previous versions were made before arriving at the current Thailand emblem.
