The Togo coat of arms was adopted officially in March of 1962. To symbolize bravery, two red lions are depicted. In between, a yellow shield with the letters RT (République Togolaise) is located. Two flags of the nation protrude from the top of this shield. On the top of the Togo coat of arms, a ribbon with the national motto “Union, Paix, Solidarite” is located. It means “Union, Peace, and Solidarity”.
