The Turkey flag has an all red background with a white crescent and star. It was adopted in 1844, but its origins go back much further. The proportion is 2:3. The banner is sometimes called Ay Yildiz.

The Turkey flag has various legends surrounding it. One of the most interesting is that a reflection of the crescent and star were seen in a pool of blood of Turkish warriors. This supposedly occurred after the Battle of Manzikert in 1071.

The star originally had eight points, but now has only five. The Turkey flag is part of a country that is located on the Anatolian peninsula. It is considered to be a parliamentary republic.

The capital city Ankara. The largest city is Istanbul. The Turkey flag belongs to a nation whose national anthem or song is “The Anthem of Independence”. The currency is called the New Turkish Lira. The national motto is “Peace at Home, Peace in the World”.
