The Turkmenistan coat of arms was adopted in 1991. It is a green eight pointed star or Rub El Hizb (an Islamic symbol). A red circle is in the middle, which features an Akhal-Teke horse inside of a blue disc. It also features carpet guls and wheat. The five carpets on the Turkmenistan coat of arms represent the five tribes that make up the country, which are the Saryk, Teke, Arsary, Yomut, and Chowdur.
A round version of the Turkmenistan coat of arms existed from 1992 until 2003.
