The Wyoming flag features a white American buffalo. The blue rectangle is bordered by a white, and then a red rectangle. It was selected by means of a competition. It was adopted on January 31, 1917.

The seal of the state appears inside of the buffalo. It depicts two men standing next to columns. The Wyoming flag is ranked as the 23rd (out of US and Canadian entities) best designed flag by a NAVA (North American Vexillological Association) conducted survey.
