The Zambian coat of arms was officially adopted on October 24th, 1964. It is similar to the design of Colony of Northern Rhodesia, which dates back to the 1920’s. A man and woman support the shield. The shield is made up of black and white wavy lines, which represent the Victoria Falls. An eagle is located above the Zambian coat of arms, which represent freedom and a great future.
The banner at the bottom of the Zambian coat of arms featured the nation’s motto, which is “One Zambia, One Nation”.
